Shifting Perspectives

Episode 11: With Knowledge Comes Strength (with Dr. Glenna Brewster)

Yolande Robinson
For this week's conversation I am joined by Dr. Glenna Brewster. Dr. Brewster, who is originally from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and now resides in the United States, is an Assistant Professor on the tenure track at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University and a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Integrated Memory Care clinic. Her current program of research aims to examine the effects of sleep disturbance and behavioral sleep interventions on psychological, cognitive, and physiological outcomes in persons living with dementia and their caregivers. In addition to sharing her personal connections to her work, Dr. Brewster guides us through a deeper understanding of dementia, its effects and impacts, and the benefits to both caregivers and individuals living with dementia when knowledge becomes power and influences one's state of mind.

Shifting Perspectives is a conversation with Yolande and Latasha that challenges listeners to fuel themselves with diversity in the way they think, the way they work, the way they parent and the way they live their lives.
